A Bass rock egy 107 méter magas, vulkanikus eredetű sziklasziget Skócia parjai mentén. Az év egy bizonyos szakában szulák milliói jönnek ide, hogy fészket rajkanak és utódaikat felneveljék a kopár sziklán. A madarak között éppen csak látszanak a Szent Baldred kápolna romjai, a legenda szerint a szent itt töltött egy kevés időt valamikor a kora-középkorban.

Bass Rock is a 107-meter volcanic rock island on the coast of Scotland. At a given period each year millions of gannets come to nest and raise their offspring on the barren rock. Among the birds the ruins of the Chapel of Saint Baldred is barely visible – according to legend the saint spent a bit of time here somewhere in the early Middle Ages.
