A Skógafoss Izland legnagyobb vízesése, 25 méter széles és több mint 60 méter magas. A Skóga-folyó zuhan alá egy látványos sziklafalról Skógar falu közelében.
A legenda szerint a környék első viking telepese, (Þrasi Þórólfsson), a vízesés mögötti barlangban elrejtett egy kincset.
A helyiek ezen a helyen évekkel később láttak egy ládát amit a víz mosott ki, de nem tudták megfogni mivel a barlangjáratban lezúduló víz elragadta. A láda a sziklafalnak csapódott és az oldaláról letört a "fogantyú" amit viszont megtaláltak. Most a Skógar múzeumban van. A ládát nem találtam meg sajnos én sem. De a lezúduló víz hangja teljesen magával ragadott.

Skógafoss is Iceland's largest waterfall, 25 meters wide and over 60 meters high. The Skóga River cascades down a spectacular rock face near the village of Skógar.
Legend says that the first Viking settler in the area, Þrasi Þórólfsson, hid a treasure in a cave behind the waterfall.
Years later, the locals saw a chest washed away by the water, but they could not catch it because it was washed away by the water flowing down the cave passage. The crate hit the rock face, and the 'handle' broke off the side, which they found. It is now in the Skogar Museum. Unfortunately, I have not seen the chest either. But the sound of falling water was quite captivating.
