A fotó a magyar-horvát határ közelében, a somogyi Lankóci erdőben született. Évről évre, nyár derekán minden alkalommal arra lettem figyelmes, hogy hajnalban a szarvas rudli szinte óramű pontossággal váltott vissza pihenőhelyére, amit a borjak játszadozása rendkívül szórakoztatóvá tett. A látottak érdemi megörökítése egyelőre váratott magára, hiszen a kedvező körülmények együttállásának hiánya több kísérletemet is meghiúsította. Egy októberi napon kiváncsiságból visszatértem a területre. Az időzítés a szarvasok életritmusából adódóan jelentős bizonytalanságot hordozott magában, azonban a hajnali őszi erdő látványa arra késztetett, hogy várt "szarvasaim" híján, tájképet készítsek. Talán sikertelen nyári törekvéseim kárpótlásaként jelent meg egy fiatal bika... pár másodperces terepszemle után folytatta útját.

The photo was taken near the Hungarian-Croatian border, in the Lankóc forest in Somogy. Year after year, in the middle of summer, I have always noticed that at dawn, the deer's herd would return to its resting place almost like clockwork, made extremely amusing by the calves' playfulness. The actual recording of what I saw had to wait for the time being, as the lack of favorable conditions prevented several of my attempts. One October day, out of curiosity, I returned to the area. The timing was uncertain due to the rhythm of the deer's life, but the sight of the autumn forest at dawn made me want to take a landscape photograph in the absence of my expected "deer." Perhaps to make up for my failed summer efforts, a young stag appeared... after a few seconds of scouting, he continued on his way.
