Kis csapatunk a szeptember végi napokban érkezett a 2450 m magasan fekvő Locatelli menedékházba. Felkapaszkodtunk a Sasso di Sesto 2539 m magas platójára, hogy a naplemente színjátékát, majd a Tejút függőleges ívét fotózzuk a Dolomitok emblematikus csúcsaival. A műsor azonban félbeszakadt, mivel az alkonyi napot elfedő felhőkből váratlanul heves vihar csapott le ránk. Visszatértünk a menedékházba, és az ég heves zengése mellett aludni próbáltunk. Egyszer csak arra ébredtem, hogy a kinti vihar zaját elnyomta az útitársak változatos horkolása. Az ablakon kitekintve a távolodó felhők helyén hihetetlenül fényesen ragyogtak fel a csillagok! Fel kell érni a hegyre gyorsan ezt megfotózni! Próbáltam lelket verni a társaimba, de néhány felém hajított bakancs egyértelművé tette, hogy ez a csoda csak én reám vár. Félúton felfelé a sáros, csúszós ösvényen , dél-keleti irányban a Piani-tavak és mögöttük magasodó Monte Paterno látványa megállásra késztettek. A távoli csúcsokat az éjszakai vihar nyomán porcukor szerűen vékony friss hó díszítette. A hegy legszebb csipkéi felett ott ragyogott a létező legfényesebb csillag, a Szíriusz, míg jobbra felette a látványos Orion csillagkép. A hajnali szürkület előtt, csillagászati éjszaka utolsó negyed órájában sikerült mindezt megörökítenem, 04:40-kor. Ez volt az első olyan éjszakai fényképem, melynek borotva élességét az általam éppen kifejlesztett, majd gyártott "Focus On Stars" eszköz garantálta (www.focusonstars.com).

Our small team arrived at the end of September at the Locatelli refuge at an altitude of 2450 m. We climbed up to the 2539 m plateau of the Sasso di Sesto to photograph the sunset spectacle and then the Milky Way vertical curve with the Dolomites' emblematic peaks. However, The show was interrupted by an unexpectedly violent storm that came out of the clouds obscuring the setting sun. We returned to the refuge and tried to sleep with the sky roaring fiercely. Suddenly, I woke up to the sound of the storm outside, drowned out by the varied snores of my fellow travelers. Looking out the window, the stars shone incredibly brightly where the receding clouds had been! We must get up the mountain quickly to photograph this! I tried to get some spirit into my companions, but a few boots thrown at me made it clear that this miracle was just for me. Halfway up the muddy, slippery trail to the southeast, the sight of Lake Piani and Monte Paterno towering behind it made me stop. The distant peaks were adorned with powdered-sugar thin fresh snow from the overnight storm. Above the mountain's finest peaks shone the brightest star in existence, Sirius, while to the right above it was the spectacular constellation of Orion. I captured it all just before dawn, in the last quarter hour of the astronomical night 04:40. This was my first night photograph with razor sharpness guaranteed by the "Focus On Stars" device I had just developed and then manufactured (www.focusonstars.com).
