Január 21-én 2600 mm fókuszú csillagászati távcsövemmel vártam a napfelkeltét az előre eltervezett észlelőhelyről. A rendkívüli hidegben, a páramentes, kristálytiszta légkörön át vakító, kelő Nap vészjósló sziluettet varázsolt országos jelképünkből. Úgy gondolom, hogy a Nap a létünk egyik alapvető forrása. Bár látszólag függünk a fosszilis tüzelőanyagoktól, mégis szinte minden folyamat a központi csillagunk működéséhez vezethető vissza. A Nap kelti életre a bolygó felszínét, és ha elhibázunk valamit mi emberek, a Nap hozza el a végzetes hőséget a bolygó bioszférája számára. A Nap hatására alakulhat ki új létforma, és a Nap lesz az az égitest, amely élete végén végleg és visszafordíthatatlanul felperzseli a Földet. A Nap a szabadságunk és korlátaink végső oka.

On January 21, I waited for sunrise with my 2600 mm astronomical telescope at a pre-planned observation spot. In the extreme cold, the rising Sun, blinding through the haze-free crystal clear atmosphere conjured a portentous silhouette of our national symbol. In my opinion, the Sun is one of the fundamental sources of our existence. Although it seems we depend on fossil fuel, almost every progression can nevertheless be traced back to the functioning of our central star. The Sun awakens life on the surface of the planet and if we humans err, the Sun will bring about fatal heat in the planet’s biosphere. New life forms can come into existence through the effect of the Sun, and Sun will be the celestial body that at the end of its life will irreversibly incinerate Earth. The Sun is the ultimate cause of our freedom and limitations.
