Egyik cserkelésem során a nádas sűrűjében fészkükön ülő nagy kócsagokra lettem figyelmes. Sietve megfelelő leshelyet kerestem, majd türelmesen vártam. Tartottam a megzavarásuktól, így tisztes távolból figyelve őket, fotózásukra csak akkor nyílt alkalmam, amikor kis időre elhagyták lakhelyüket, hogy táplálkozzanak, valamint fészekanyagot gyűjtsenek, és visszatérésükkor fészküket keresve hosszan siklottak a nádas felett. Az első néhány sikertelenebb kísérlet után, az előttem lévő nádason keresztül átfotózva próbáltam érdekesebbé tenni a képeket, amihez később a lemenő nap fénye is hozzásegített, ahogy oldalról megvilágította a madarakat és narancssárgára festette az égboltot.

During one of my scoutings, I noticed a great egret couple sitting in their nest among the thick reeds. I quickly found a proper hideaway and waited patiently. I was concerned about not disturbing them so I watched them from a respectful distance. The opportunity to photograph them only presented itself when they left their home briefly to eat and collect materials for their nest. Coming back looking for their nests they glided above the reeds for a long time. After the first few less than successful experiments, I tried to make the picture more interesting by photographing through the reeds in front of me, which the light of the setting Sun later helped, as it lit the birds from the side and painted the sky orange.
