Mióta az eszemet tudom, etetem a madarakat. Ha leesik a hó és keményebbre fordul az idő, az éhség miatt türelmetlenebbek és agresszívabbak lesznek a mezei verebek.  Egy idő után már semmi különösebb kihívásra nincs szükség, csupán egy sanda pillantás elég, és a dominánsabb fél verekedést provokál. A "búbolás" az agresszió elég alattomos megnyilvánulási formája – nagyon gyors mozdulat, és szinte kivédhetetlen.

As long as I can remember I have been feeding birds. Once snow falls and the weather turns tough, field sparrows become more impatient and aggressive because they are hungry. After a while, there is no need for any particular challenge, merely a sideward glance is sufficient for the dominant half to provoke a fight.  The “bopping” is a rather sneaky form of aggressive expression – a very fast movement and seemingly indefensible.
