Több ezer kérész rajzik a Rába-folyó egyik hídja felett egy júliusi éjszakán. A kép előterében néhány kérész látható élesen, a háttérben pedig a közvilágítás, valamint a Hold fényei által megvilágított repülő rovar, repülésükkel hangjegyeket formázva. Ahhoz, hogy ezt a képet elkészítsem, nagyon sokat kellett kísérleteznem a záridővel és a fényekkel. Végül a hosszú záridő és a vaku kombinációja eredményezte ezt a különleges hatást. Mivel a kérészek a híd lámpáinál rajzanak, így rövid életük és kimerültségük miatt ott is pusztulnak el. Ez különösen káros természetvédelmi szempontból, mert a kérész petéi így nem a vízbe, hanem a járdára és az útra kerülnek, ezzel a faj fennmaradását veszélyeztetve.

Thousands of mayflies swarm over a bridge on the River Rába on a July night. In the picture's foreground, a few mayflies can be seen in sharp focus, while in the background, illuminated by street lights and the moon, the flying insects form musical notes as they fly. I had to experiment with shutter speeds and lights to make this image. In the end, the combination of slow shutter speed and flash produced this particular effect. Because the mayflies are drawn to the bridge's lights, they die due to their short life and exhaustion. This is particularly damaging from a conservation point of view because the eggs are then deposited on the pavement and the road rather than in the water, thus endangering the species' survival.
