Nemrég könnyelműen azt válaszoltam egy kérdésre, hogy legközelebb akkor fogok növényeket fotózni, ha már nyugdíjba vonultam... Mentségemre legyen mondva, igazából a gyurgyalagfotózás mellékterméke ez a kép, amikor csak az előtérben kinyíló virágra kellett húznom az élességet. Annyira magtetszett a kompozíció, hogy hagytam az eredeti tervemet, és maradtam ebben a képkivágásban, hátha elkaphatok valami kis akciót, ami növényfotózásban bizony nem egyszerű feladat. A virág szirmai csak napkelte után két órával nyíltak ki, és két órával később már le is hullottak. Ennyi idő állt rendelkezésemre, hogy a képbe berepülő rovarokat is elcsípjem, ezzel is mozgalmasabbá téve a jelenetet. Volt még egy igazi akció, amikor a virág szirmai hullani kezdtek, ám ekkor a gyurgyalag sajnos éppen nem ült a háttérben.

I recently replied lightheartedly to a question that the next time I would take pictures of plants it would be after I retired. Truth be told, this picture is a byproduct of a photoshoot about of bee eaters, where I merely had to set my focus on an opening flower in the foreground. I liked the composition so much that I abandoned my original idea and stayed with this frame too see if I could catch some action, which is not an easy task in plant photography. The petals of the flower opened two hours after sunrise and fell to the ground after only two hours. This was the interval available to me to catch any insects flying into the frame in order to make the scene more action-packed. There additional action, when the petals started to fall, but unfortunately the bee eater did not sit in the background then.
